The differential susceptibility model asserts that individuals vary in their general susceptibility to environmental influences.Crucially, the very children that are disproportionately vulnerable to harsh and low-quality parenting, may benefit disproportionately from supportive and high-quality parenting, being susceptible “for better and for worse”.
